Healing Programs Working Group 

The Healing Programs Working Group works to support the vision of whole and balanced Indigenous communities by providing grants for education, culture and language initiatives for healing and leadership development. The working group receives and discerns applications for several grants including: Healing Fund, Alvin Dixon Memorial Bursary Fund, Dorothy Jenkins Estate Fund and the Endowment Fund for Indigenous Post Secondary Education.  

Skills: We are looking for strategic thinkers, knowledge keepers, and keepers of history. Some members will be former residential school students or their second or third generation family members. Members will have a deep commitment to education and leadership development. Youth and young adults, Two-Spirit members, Elders and urban Indigenous people are encouraged to consider this working group.  

Membership: The working group will be made up of up to six members from across the broad range of United Church Indigenous communities. 

Term: Appointments are for approximately three years, with the possibility of reappointment for a second term. Each year there will be a two-day in-person meeting in the spring and a video or tele-conference call meeting in the fall. Additional monthly meetings may occur by videoconference call.
