Bermuda Nova Scotia Regional Council is seeking an individual to fill the role of Cluster Animator on a Term contract basis, 12 hours per week starting September 2024 to December 31, 2025.

Fundy St. Lawrence Dawning Waters Regional Council, Bermuda-Nova Scotia Regional Council and First Dawn Eastern Edge represent diverse contexts of urban centres and rural communities. The three Regions are comprised of the following areas, Fundy St. Lawrence Dawning Waters (Gaspé Quebec, NB, PEI), Regional Council 15 (NS and Bermuda) and First Dawn Eastern Edge (NL). The Regions are committed to supporting the United Church’s work of reconciliation and its desire to be intercultural.

The role of Cluster Animator is to work with communities of faith in Bermuda - Nova Scotia Region for the specific purpose of establishing basic regional clusters. These clusters will provide a structure for lay persons and ministry personnel to meet and provide support to each other on a consistent basis. The main areas of focus are:

  1. Consultation and Engagement: Consult with communities of faith in the Region, including regional representatives and ministry personnel to determine geographical clustering for the area; and with , existing clusters and groups to learn about structure, purpose and sustainability.
  2. Planning and Development: Analyze information and data collected from consultations to create plan for cluster animation and  identify ground leaders.
  3. Cluster Support: Follow-up with individual clusters and identify areas of improvement.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, in computer science, statistics, economics, business administration, or related fields;
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in research and data analysis, or data management in a not-for-profit setting is desirable;
  • In-depth understanding of modern database tools, retrieval methods, and information technologies such as MS 365 Dynamics, SQL, Pro Power BI, Access, MS Excel, etc.;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information, and present complex information in a simplified way to various audiences;
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools, MS Projects, Power BI, and PowerApps;
  • Knowledge of CRM systems or other data management systems;
  • Strong experience in the effective use of methodology, process tools, and software for statistics, data management (database), and analysis/visualization such as Excel, Power BI, Power Apps, Access, SQL, SAS, and SPSS; 
  • Excellent computer skills in the use of various software applications – Office 365, SharePoint, MS Dynamics, One Drive, Teams, Zoom, GIS, and other online platforms;
  • Familiarity with programming languages used for data analysis like R or Python is an asset;
  • Experience and expertise with tools such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects, and Xcelsius is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including consultation and facilitation skills to gather and effectively disseminate information needed by various stakeholders;
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management skills, and ability to organize, prioritize, follow through with important projects, and effectively deal with changing situations or priorities;
  • Ability to work independently and in teams cross-functionally, with a commitment to a team approach and collaboration with colleagues;
  • Project management skills, including the use of relevant project management applications are an asset;
  • Capacity to create clear, effective, and appealing presentations in various forms (Power BI, MS PowerPoint, Google Slides, GIS, MS Sway…); 
  • Ability to problem-solve with a track record of producing results;
  • Knowledge of the ministry of The United Church of Canada and the ability to work in both official languages are strong assets; and
  • Ability to exercise caution when dealing with and analyzing personal and confidential data.

Working Conditions

The United Church of Canada has adopted a hybrid workplace model, providing flexibility for this position, working both off-site and in the Regional Council Office located at Sackville, New Brunswick. The incumbent will be provided, for work purposes, use of secure devices and must be available by email, phone, teams, or Zoom.

Compensation

Salary is at $30.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
