The 100th anniversary of the Union of The United Church of Canada is approaching on June 10, 2025. This is an opportunity for us to reflect on how expressing our faith has impacted the world, our communities, and our personal lives.

Celebrating our Centennial is a significant point in the life and story of the church. At the same time, it is difficult to look at the history of the church and the many legacies of harm that continue today. Acknowledging and naming the truth of our past is an important part of healing and preventing us from repeating past harms into the future. Still, it is important that we celebrate milestones, progress in healing, and the spirituality that sustains us.

The Centennial Celebrations Committee will

  • design and identify opportunities to celebrate up to 2025 and beyond
  • invite ideas and participation from across the church
  • determine ways to support regional council events

Committee Members

  • Chair: Very Rev. Dr. Richard Bott, 43rd Moderator of The United Church of Canada
  • Richard Chambers
  • Colleen Lowrie
  • Rev. Marie-Claude Manga
  • Denise Weir
  • Staff resource: Nichole Vonk

Communications

A section of this website will become the central communications portal for all Centennial events, resources, and activities submitted to the committee.

To prepare for this Web presence, the committee will seek feedback from communities and stakeholders across the church about ideas and plans for Centennial commemorations.
