United Church invites Canadians to the table as it marks its Centennial
To mark its 100th anniversary on June 10, 2025, The United Church of Canada launched 100 Tables, a national initiative inviting its communities of faith across the country to transform a picnic table into a site of welcoming that reflects the Church’s century-long commitment to live out God's call to love and serve. These gatherings are visible signs of a promise: to meet people where they are, both spiritually and physically.
Rooted in faith and shaped by the unique needs of their communities, these gatherings go beyond simply sharing food or information. They offer interactive, meaningful experiences that address local concerns while celebrating what it means to belong—to have a Place at the Table.

Centennial Significance
As The United Church of Canada marks its 100th anniversary on June 10, 2025, 100 Tables celebrates The United Church of Canada as a space to explore faith and community, casting a bold vision for the future. Each table extends the Church’s commitment to love, justice and inclusion, carrying that spirit into the next century.
For 100 years, the Church has nurtured communities —from ordaining women to working to advance 2S and LGBTQIA+ inclusion and continue to prioritize Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples including a formal apology in 1986 for the Church's role in colonization and residential schools. We have also made mistakes, and we commit to moving forward together in truth, healing, respect, and partnership. 100 Tables continues this journey, proclaiming that faith must meet people where they are with courage.
The centennial reminds us: joy is resistance. In the face of fear and injustice, we choose joy—not as escape but as a radical act of hope, rooted in the belief that love still reigns.
