Your gift this Christmas will support children in Canada and around the world.
At the end of 2023, the United Nations estimated that there were 117 million forcibly displaced people in the world and that 47 million of them—40 percent—were children! In Canada, 1.8 million children go to school hungry because their families can’t make ends meet. Moreover, StatsCan reports that seven in ten children reported being bullied in the past year because of who they are or what they believe.
How can you be an answer to children’s prayers?
Nurturing New Beginnings
Becoming a new parent can be overwhelming. It’s a time filled with great joy, but also uncertainty, as parents adjust to their new roles and work to create a safe and nurturing environment for their little one. At Fairview Resource Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the New Parents Support group aims to walk with parents as they navigate the complexities of raising a newborn.
Helping Refugees
This past year, Wesley, a Mission and Service partner in Hamilton, Ontario, supported over 1,000 newcomers from Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and other countries. This is the story of Christine, a courageous and resilient mother from the Democratic Republic of Congo who has been through unspeakable danger and sorrow to ensure the safety of her family.
A Place to Thrive
For some, Beasley Community Center is just a building to pass while driving down Wilson Street in Hamilton, Ontario. For others, Beasley is a sanctuary, a safe place where they can thrive. For Cyris, Beasley’s meaning and purpose have gone through many seasons of change, starting as a young child and continuing today as he works as a summer student with the After School Program.
