Did You Know? is a response to questions we have been asked over the past few years. We feel it is important to keep our supporters informed and we will add other answers if new questions arise.

Did you know that “Minutes for Mission” is now called “Mission and Service Stories”?

We’ve been updating many areas of the United Church website to make things easier to find. Search for either “Minutes for Mission” or “Mission and Service Stories” and you’ll find apage filled with stories. These can be read from your device or printed and used during services. Stories of what your gifts can do will educate and inspire your congregation.

Did you know that you can order new Mission and Service offering envelopes for your special events?

Mission and Service offering envelopes have been redesigned to reflect the hope and aid that your Mission and Service gifts provide. They can be used in any special service or event in your life where you want to make a positive impact in the world. You can find them at the United Church bookstore. The envelopes come in packages of 25 and are free to you. And shipping is free as well!

Did you know that your calls to the Philanthropy Unit are answered by United Church General Council staff members, not a call center?

This means that we answer calls as quickly as possible, but you may reach our voice mail if we are on another call. It also means that we are not available on holidays or between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Please leave a message—we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Did you know that Mission and Service staff are based in Toronto, so our office hours are on Eastern Time?

Our office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and closed on weekends and holidays. You can reach us toll free at 1-800-465-3771, but while we appreciate your calls at any time, we won’t be available to chat outside of those hours. Please leave a message and we will respond as soon as possible.

Did you know that all gifts through Gifts with Vision are chosen from our Mission and Service partners?

Every year, partners who have a connection with Mission and Service can apply to have one of their programs included in Gifts with Vision. The programs are carefully evaluated to ensure that they offer a real and effective impact. Once chosen, stories and photos are collected and put together to offer you the best possible options to give gifts that transform lives. You can donate with the confidence that your gift will be used for the program you select.

Did you know that we protect your privacy when you donate to Mission and Service?

You can have complete confidence that we will keep the information you share with us private. We will use that information only to communicate with you, update you on our campaigns, and send you tax receipts. We will never sell or rent our list of supporters to anyone, not even another charity.

Did you know that you can receive your tax receipts by email to speed up the process?

Choosing to receive your tax receipts by email also allows you to find them more easily at tax time. Don’t shuffle through piles of papers looking for your receipts—just check your email inbox!

Did you know that you can get extra copies of the Gifts with Vision catalogue?
