The Shared Services Unit of The United Church of Canada is seeking an individual to fill the role of Educational Resources Assistant for the Learning and Development Lead as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program for 2025. This is an 8-week program at 35 hours per week with an anticipated start date in the third week of May.
The United Church of Canada’s Shared Services team is seeking a motivated and creative Summer Student to support a key strategic initiative focused on developing management training resources. The management training project involves creating high-quality training materials designed to equip our managers and leadership with the skills and tools they need to lead effectively. The successful Candidate will work closely with the Learning and Development Lead to help design, develop, and deliver resources that align with the United Church’s goals and values.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Instructional Design & Content Development - Create engaging training materials and e-learning modules using instructional design principles, collaborating with subject matter experts and aligning with project goals.
- Visual & Multimedia Design - Design compelling graphics and multimedia elements to enhance the learning experience using tools like Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Project Coordination and Documentation - Manage timelines, organize project assets, and track progress to ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Facilitation - Engage stakeholders through walkthroughs and review sessions to gather feedback, ensure alignment, and secure buy-in for training initiatives.
- Feedback Integration & Continuous Improvement - Analyze feedback from testing and stakeholders to iteratively improve and update training content for effectiveness and relevance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must:
- Be a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program (2nd, 3rd, or 4th year), or a teacher entering their 5th year of study
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Graphic Design, or a related field
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Have working knowledge of databases
- Familiarity with instructional design principles and e-learning tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, or similar platforms)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced project environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Good customer service
- Knowledge and basic understanding of the United Church is an asset

Compensation
Salary will be at $22.23 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
