We, humans, are but one strand in a web of life, and only one being among many relations. The land and waters are not resources to be exhausted. We need to be leaders that seek balance, repair relations and live with respect in creation today and for seven generations.
—The Right Rev. Dr. Kimberly Heath, Moderator

During Earth Week 2026, The United Church of Canada is joining with numerous denominations and faith-based organizations under one banner, Together for the Love of Creation.

Communities of faith, networks, and regions are invited to initiate and participate in climate justice events during the week of April 19–26. Together with fellow members of the national For the Love of Creation effort, this is a great opportunity to show leadership.

It starts with three simple steps. We pray to connect with God and God’s Creation. We learn about the realities and solutions to climate change. And we act— showing leadership for climate justice in our communities, and bringing a clear call for leadership to our Members of Parliament.

New for Earth Week 2026

PRAY

  • A new Earth Sunday Service Worship Resource for April 19, 2026 is available on the Earth Sunday Worship page. Use in full or use portions as part of your Sunday service, Wild Church, Forest Bathing, or Hike in Creation.

LEARN

  • Share the Harvest of Hope story about leaders of the Nature+ program in Kenya cultivating in the face of climate change. This project is funded by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank of which The United Church of Canada is a proud member.
  • Tuesday, April 7th at 2:30 ET attend a Succeed at Advocacy: Earth Week online workshop to learn more about leadership needed on climate with presentations from Joni Shawana and Rev. Dr. Jessica Hetherington.

ACT

  • Hold or attend a Faithful Footprints Retrofit tour or host an info session to share about Faithful Footprints grants, and DIY audits, and other resources to decarbonize your building.
  • A Call for Climate Leadership—Use the guide and the accompanying downloadable letters to invite your community to express their love for Creation and invite your Member of Parliament to take leadership for climate. Build this in-person group activity into your Earth Week events (e.g. prayer, bike clinic, Faithful Footprints retrofit tour, fair trade organic coffee hour). (See downloads, below.)

Additional resources to inspire your planning and to register your event are on the For the Love of Creation website.  Check the interactive map regularly to see what events are in your area and/or available online nationally.

As a thank you for leading the way, the first 50 groups who register events on the map will receive two For the Love of Creation Earth Week T-shirts.
