Members of the church respond to God’s call through many different forms of service.
For the sake of the world, God calls all followers of Jesus to Christian ministry. To embody God’s love in the world, the work of the church requires the ministry and discipleship of all believers.
—A Song of Faith
The United Church of Canada affirms that all its members are called to ministry as parts of Christ’s body and that God calls some to exercise specific gifts of leadership. Members of the church respond to God’s call through many different forms of service, as we are equipped and inspired by the Spirit. Ministry leadership of lay members can include youth ministry, designated lay ministry, leadership in worship, pastoral visiting, and community and outreach ministries.
