Our Good Shepherd
Good Shepherd God,
We know that no pain or sorrow is hidden from you,
who we are and how we come is welcomed into your pasture.
We know that your love for us is unconditional,
you care our broken hearts with matchless tenderness and compassion;
we are forever grateful to be a part of your flock.
As tree roots spread confidently around a river bank,
feeding on rich soil,
drinking in new life,
growing strong and confident;
You, shepherding God, lead us towards healing waters
so that we who have been uprooted by racism
may strengthen and reclaim roots, meant to nourish and sustain us,
that we have been separated from.
Forgive us when we in our bigotry, fear or ignorance
block your work of healing in others,
or reject your work within ourselves.
May we with gratitude and humility accept your guidance,
as you attempt to deepen our roots while restoring our souls,
so that all people may flourish.
May it be so.
Amen.
