Prayer

Our loving God,
       May we lift ourselves
and encourage and support all people.

May all find hope in their struggles
and feel your presence with us as we keep going in life.

May you give us the strength to face our worst moments,
       finding help in you.
       And may we, your followers,
be an extended lifeline in your name.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Congregational Responses

  • For Sophia, an Indigenous Taiwanese person, food and language are important. Particular foods and language are important to many racial and cultural communities! How might your congregation honour diverse foods and cultures in a congregational gathering? A potluck? A cultural sharing? Teaching and sharing languages beyond English and French? If you do share food, culture, and language, don’t just stop at the superficial level—deepen the conversation by thinking about systemic changes in the church and dismantling racial injustices.
  • Sophia notes the importance of stories of survival and challenging stereotypes. She invites people to use their voice for change. What might this look like in your congregation?
