River Run 2026 needs volunteers for rally, community dinner; training provided
Come out to show your support for Grassy Narrows’ fight for mercury justice at the River Run Rally 2026 on September 23! Grassy Narrows youth, leaders and community members will travel 1,700 km to the rally at Grange Park, 26 Grange Rd., Toronto, scheduled for noon on September 23—and they are asking thousands of us to show up. The event is family friendly and takes place rain or shine.
Grassy Narrows is home to the longest-running Indigenous blockade in Canadian history and has won major victories through decades of resistance—including a 10-year logging ban, commitments to clean up the river, and a Mercury Care Home. But so much is still needed to right the wrong of mercury poisoning.
It takes hundreds of volunteers to make River Run happen. Bring your friends, family, coworkers, union, faith community or organization. No experience necessary. All volunteers will receive onboarding, with two orientation sessions to choose from:
- Tuesday, September 2, at 2 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 9, from 6–7 p.m.
