Celebrate International Development Week 2025 as we honor our Centennial and recommit to the UN Sustainable Development Goals!
Join us in celebrating International Development Week (IDW) across Canada from February 2–8, 2025!
The United Church of Canada, along with the Canadian Government, civil society organizations, and communities nationwide, shines a spotlight on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a global roadmap to create a healthier, more equitable world for people and the planet by 2030.
As we mark the Centennial year of The United Church of Canada, we honour a century of living out our faith through global partnerships and justice work. Though the SDGs were created 2012, The United Church of Canada has a rich legacy of working with others in solidarity to reduce inequality, hunger, and poverty while striving for justice and peace. This legacy inspires us to recommit to these efforts and imagine the transformative work we will undertake in the next 100 years.
What to Expect
Stay tuned as we share inspiring stories throughout the week from our work with Mission and Service and Canadian Foodgrains Bank partners. The United Church of Canada works with over 74 partners in God’s mission around the world, working toward deep changes for just economic and social systems and a world transformed by love.
Discover how The United Church of Canada and its global partners are addressing:
- Inequality
- Hunger
- Climate change
- Poverty
How is your Community of Faith addressing some of these or other global challenges locally? Share your stories and photos with the whole church! Send these to Church in Mission at and we will post them alongside stories from global partners.
These stories will highlight efforts to promote well-being both locally and globally, embodying our faith’s call to live with respect in Creation, seek justice, and love and serve others.
Why Are the SDGs More Urgent Than Ever?
With just five years left until 2030, the need for action is greater than ever. Global challenges such as climate change, inequality, geopolitical conflicts, and the lasting impacts of COVID-19 have slowed progress, making renewed commitment critical.
