Faith in action revealed in the figures and stories of the United Church's Strategic Plan Report, released today in two languages.
The stories from The United Church of Canada’s 2025 Strategic Plan Report highlight the global and local work the church is doing, and overall progress on the church’s strategic objectives. The report was released April 30 as a digital copy in English and French.
“As we mark the beginning of The United Church of Canada’s second century, this report shows the many ways we are becoming the church we envision,” says Rev. Jennifer Henry, Executive Minister, Organizational Development and Strategy. “The Strategic Plan has been a road map for much of the inspiring, justice-seeking, community-building work carried out across the church.”
Stories shared include:
- Lilly Endowment Inc. granted over $9 million USD to The Vancouver School of Theology, as lead school, to help establish a new collaboration between the United Church and its eight affiliated schools to strengthen theological education over the next five years.
- Two representatives of the Indigenous Church—Joni Shawana (Healing Program Coordinator, Indigenous Ministries and Justice), and Samantha Miller (Community Youth Member)—attended COP30, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil last November, participating in advocacy and dialogue about the future of Indigenous climate leadership.
- Over 115 United Churches brought their ministry out to the street with 100 Tables, an initiative that transformed ordinary picnic tables into sites of welcome, sharing social justice resources, community-building activities, or a simple bite to eat, driving invitation and new relationship with neighbours.
This is the final annual report of the General Council Office’s 2023‒2025 Strategic Plan, and highlights four of its strategic objectives, which will be pillars of our future whole-church strategy Toward 2035.
Bringing together data, financial information, and inspiring stories of progress, the report reflects the church’s Vision of becoming a bold, connected, evolving church of diverse, courageous, hope-filled communities, united in deep spirituality, inspiring worship, and daring justice.
