Collective is a space to grow in faith, build community, and reflect on shared experiences
Collective 2026 begins today. From August 12–15, over 500 youth, young adults, and leaders come together to participate in a joyous, spirit-filled gathering at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. A joint Presbyterian Church in Canada and The United Church of Canada youth initiative, Collective is a space to grow in faith, build community, and reflect on shared experiences.
Of the over 500 registrants in the filled-to-capacity event, eight per cent are Francophone. Throughout Collective, there are more than 60 workshops and information sessions designed to inspire, challenge, and equip. J.R. LaRose, a former Canadian Football League player and speaker, will offer the keynote presentation. A proud member of One Arrow First Nation, J.R. is a nine-year veteran of the CFL and a 2011 Grey Cup Champion.
General Secretary Rev. Michael Blair and Moderator The Right Rev. Dr. Kimberly Heath will attend throughout the week, and the Moderator will lead worship on Friday evening. Three international guests will also attend and present to the youth:
- Samson Maina Chege is a Kenyan youth development practitioner, community development professional, and advocate for dignified livelihoods. Samson is particularly interested in how churches and faith communities can support young people to navigate today's social and economic challenges while inspiring hope, purpose, and responsible leadership.
- Jasmin Rubia is a passionate peace and human rights advocate from Manila. She works for the National Council of Churches in the Philippines in the Gender Justice program and is active in promoting youth leadership with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.
- Shamimu Wangui Mwangi is a community mentor working under The National Council of Churches of Kenya. Passionate about youth empowerment, mental wellbeing, and faith-based community transformation, she believes in creating spaces where young people can reach their full potential and thrive.
