A Thanksgiving conversation about food, faith, community, and belonging.

Published On: October 8, 2026

As Canadians gather with family, friends, and community for Thanksgiving this weekend, Kitchen Conversations with the Moderator: A Thanksgiving Table offers an invitation to reflect on the connections that bring us together.

In this special edition of Kitchen Conversations with the Moderator, The Right Rev. Kimberly Heath welcomes Palestinian chef Izzeldin Bukhari into the kitchen for a conversation shaped by food, culture, gratitude, and hope. Together, they prepare a meal while sharing stories about family, hospitality, resilience, and the importance of truly creating space for one another at the table.

“Thanksgiving gives us an opportunity to pause and give thanks,” says Moderator Kimberly Heath. “It also reminds us of the importance of gathering together, listening deeply, and making room for one another's stories. Around the table, we discover both what makes us unique, and what we share.”

Kitchen Conversations with the Moderator goes beyond the bounds of a cooking show, as our hosts explore the people, experiences, and values that shape our communities. By sharing in these candid and meaningful conversations, viewers are invited to ponder belonging, compassion, and human connection.

In this special Thanksgiving meal, food becomes a bridge between several different cultures and experiences. As the Moderator and Chef Bukhari cook together, they reflect on the ways meals create community, preserve traditions, and foster understanding across differences.

With one episode launching each day during Thanksgiving, this special edition of Kitchen Conversations encourages viewers to consider how their own tables can become places of welcome, generosity, learning, and relationship.

Whether gathering with family, friends, neighbours, or communities of faith this Thanksgiving season, Canadians are invited to watch, reflect, and join the conversation.
