What did you do?

"On September 21, about 150 people gathered after church and celebrated our new picnic table. We dedicated it while we shared in a barbeque and ice cream luncheon. There were games, and tables were set up inside and out. People from the community joined in as well.

The table was going to be part of a joint event with the Church and Woodlawn Residents Association Fall Festival, but the weather didn't cooperate so the event was held in the hall. Our table is situated at the front of the building and people use it to rest, to wait for the bus, and to chat. We received a donation which will go towards the cost of buying a second table to be placed next to the entrance to our food bank.

Being able to offer a place to sit, rest, and visit helps in our goal of reaching out to and into the the community that surrounds our church! The community have noticed the table and are seeing and participating in more and more of the activities we offer as we continue our visions of building, sustaining, and serving our community beyond the walls of the church." —Rev. Bethe Benjamin Cameron, Minister of Congregational and Community Animation and Engagement
