What did you do?
Members of our church transformed a picnic table into a boldly coloured expression of welcome, love, and belonging. It was blessed after church on Sunday, July 20. From this table, we hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic on July 22. This family-friendly event was well attended by our families and the entire community. It included music, lawn games, and ice cream donated by our local dairy, ADL. A prayer station was also created. Prayers received were passed on to our minister and shared with our community of faith in our newsletter. We also hosted three Table Tuesdays in summer. Volunteers were present at the table with games and information available.
Why did you do it?
West River United Church was motivated to participate as our minister, Rev. Franklyn James, was one of the 12 disciples chosen to participate in the national "A Place at the Table" campaign.
