What did you do?
We held a Rally Sunday BBQ after church on September 21 to welcome members back after the summer holidays (and we called members who hadn't been to church in a while to extend an invitation). Everyone enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, and ice cream downstairs in the church hall. It was also the day of Sunday School registration. Our table was set up with our new poster that says "welcome" in multiple languages. We also had the 100th anniversary postcards, some information about our church groups, and a poster board where people could write something they were grateful for about our church community, since it was also World Day of Gratitude. It was a very successful event!
Why did you do it?
We wanted to give congregation members the chance to see each other in a relaxed setting after the summer break, when many people were away on holidays or at their summer cottages. It was also a great chance to contact some members we hadn't seen in a while to invite them to a friendly church event. Those who did come after a prolonged absence felt very welcomed.
