What did you do?

We decided to take the theme of the table and create a community dinner that happens every Tuesday night at McKillop, which started in September. Our tag lines are: "Come meet your neighbours and join in a simple nutritious meal. Whoever you are, there is always a place for you at the table." We practice hospitality, belonging, and community. We have fresh bread at every meal and there is not a charge, but donations are accepted.

Why did you do it?

We started the community dinner out of the 100 Tables Initiative to create an atmosphere of hospitality so we could be a place of belonging and connection for our neighbourhood. We also started this initiative so we could literally practice hosting a place at the table for everyone, as well as address growing social isolation and food insecurity in our community.
