What did you do?
On Saturday September 20th, Emmanuel United Church’s Open House brought together members of the congregation and a few from the wider community for an afternoon of engagement and connection. Outside the church, participants contributed painted handprints to the new accessible picnic table as part of the 100 Tables initiative. Volunteers provided information, popcorn and chocolate, and hand-washing stations to support the activity. Guests also enjoyed lemonade while exploring the community garden and learning about opportunities to get involved. The Affirming Team hosted a welcoming station with face painting and information about their work, while guided art tours introduced visitors to the stained glass windows and art pieces throughout the building. Other displays highlighted the Mission and Service team, the Children’s ministry, the Chemo Cap and Prayer Shawl ministries, and the work of the St. Vincent Volunteers, including their community pasta dinners. The event created opportunities for conversation, learning, and fellowship. Our new and colourful picnic table will be stationed under a tree in the courtyard, where it can be used as a place to congregate after the service!
