What We Did
We placed our picnic table, from the United Church of Canada's 100 Tables initiative, right on our front lawn at Avon United. We used it as a central gathering spot during our Earth Day community cleanup, set it to anchor our outdoor Sunday morning brunches for food and conversation, and pulled up extra chairs to host our committee and community meetings outside whenever the weather cooperated.
Why We Did It
We wanted to turn a simple piece of furniture into an active hub for fellowship and shared community life in Hantsport. By bringing these activities outdoors, we aimed to give our congregation and neighbours a welcoming space to connect, share meals, and collaborate on local initiatives right in the heart of our community.
