The United Church of Canada is launching the Toward 2035 Survey, the first churchwide survey designed to better understand how the Toward 2035 framework is being received across the denomination. Introduced in 2025, Toward 2035 outlines a shared direction for the decade ahead, rooted in the church’s Call and Vision.
The survey invites anyone connected to the life of the church (members and adherents of communities of faith, staff, volunteers, etc.) to share their experiences and perspectives, and also name their sense of needs within their own context to move Toward 2035. Insights gathered will help guide future planning and resource development to support communities across the country.
Collaborating Across the Church
The launch of the Toward 2035 Survey is a coordinated effort between the General Council Office and Regional Council Offices, reflecting a shared commitment to hearing from as many people as possible. Teams are working together to promote the survey across the church so that a wide range of voices—representing different regions, ministries, roles, and experiences—help to inform the next stages of Toward 2035.
Whether someone is involved in worship, governance, outreach, justice work, youth ministry, or simply feels connected to the church’s life, every perspective matters. This collaboration ensures that the survey reaches deep into communities and congregations, helping us understand how Toward 2035 is resonating and where further support may be needed.
National Launch – Check Your Email
The national survey opens March 10 and will remain open until March 31.
Leaders receiving the email invitation are encouraged to complete the survey themselves and then forward the secondary invitation to individuals and groups within their Community of Faith to support broad participation across the church.
Why the Survey Link Isn’t Being Posted Publicly
To protect the integrity of the Toward 2035 Survey, we are not posting the survey link on public websites. Public posting increases the risk of spam or automated submissions, which can compromise the accuracy of our baseline data.
The survey system allows only one response per email address, so it must be shared in ways that reach our church community without exposing the link to bots or mass spam networks.
You are welcome to share the survey using:
- closed social media groups
- QR codes printed in bulletins
- slides during worship or meetings
- emails forwarded by leaders to their Communities of Faith
- an item in a subscribed newsletter
These methods keep distribution secure while ensuring the survey reaches as many people connected to the church as possible.
