What We Did

In July of 2026, with the help from the United Church 100 Tables grant, a small team built a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and painted it with a large open heart in the centre. Then, together with many others from the congregation, this heart was painted in with many colourful designs expressing an inclusive welcome to all.

The colourful table has a permanent place right in front of the church, with a sign encouraging passers-by to sit and chat there for a bit.

Why We Did It

We did it to create a bit more of a visible presence to the surrounding community, to create a sense of welcome, and to use it as an opportunity for low-threshold interactions and chats with passers-by. We've only just started, but have lots of ideas for how to use it.
