Since late 2019, the Philippines have been ravaged by a series of intense natural disasters. Two earthquakes, two typhoons, and a major volcanic eruption have had devastating impacts on over 6 million people. With countless lives lost and homes destroyed, as well as major disruptions to people’s livelihoods, the Philippine government’s ability to respond is stretched. Help may not be reaching people and communities in a timely manner.

In the midst of this, United Church Mission & Service partners the National Council of Churches in the Philippines and ACT Alliance are responding to the disasters by providing food, hygiene kits, medical supplies, shelter materials, blankets, tents and psycho-social support. United Church donations will assist this life-saving work.

Please include the people of the Philippines in your prayers. If you are able, please be generous with your support as many in the Philippines are recovering from several disasters: the eruption of the Taal Volcano; the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that struck in fall 2019; and the devastation of Typhoon Phanfone (known locally as Typhoon Ursula, it left 50 dead and nearly 85,000 displaced). Additionally, many continue to suffer the effects of the climate disasters that have recently impacted the region.
