UPRC is currently seeking a highly motivated individual, with a passion for real estate development, to join our team as Manager of Accounting and Reporting. Located in Toronto, Canada, the position supports corporate accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance and budgeting. The position will also assist in developing internal control policies and procedures.

Qualified candidates will undergo an extensive evaluation process that will include interviews with individuals from UPRC. In addition, comprehensive references, background, and due diligence (credit, criminal and education) will be undertaken with the finalist candidates. Assessments my also be included as part of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate accounting and reporting
  • Accounting for development projects and investment structures; includes preparing and reviewing journal entries and accounting records, invoicing and collecting development and management fees
  • Monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages
  • Prepare monthly cash forecasts, analysis and make funding recommendations for development projects and investment structures
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes for development projects
  • Assist is preparing corporate budget and coordinating the audit process
  • Collaborates with development staff to ensure understanding of projects, financing structures and timing of key milestones
  • Coordinates with auditors and development staff for tax returns and financial audits
  • Research and set up appropriate accounting policies, and their implementation
  • Prepare and support accounting support for tax returns and analyses
  • Financial controls and process excellence
  • Ensure that internal controls and accounting procedures are in place and documented for timely and accurate financial reporting, and safeguarding of assets
  • Design and implement processes and reports to facilitate efficient operations and reporting
  • Ad-hoc or special projects


  • CPA designation required;
  • Strong background in real estate and development projects, accounting principles, processes and controls;
  • Experience with Yardi including Voyager, Construction Manager, Payscan and Investment Accounting preferred;
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Word Possession;
  • A professional demeanor and coupled with excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing challenging situations;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, to adapt quickly, prioritize and manage concurrent processes and reporting requirements while meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify opportunities/requirements and develop solutions where there may be no precedent internally or externally;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent follow-up skills;
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.



All successful candidates for the above position will be paid a competitive compensation package, commensurate with the level, status, and responsibilities of the role. This includes a base salary, annual performance bonus and benefits.
