Orange Shirt Day Giveaway
Published On: August 4, 2022

Last year, Indigenous Ministries and Justice held an Orange Shirt Giveaway on September 30. In what was possibly the most chaotic Facebook event we have ever experienced, we shared 50 shirts with Indigenous and non-Indigenous United Church members and friends who are committed to honouring the children taken to residential institutions as well as the ongoing work of reconciliation.

This year, the tradition continues with a giveaway of 40 “Every Child Matters” flags, sized 36” by 60” and with metal grommets. We have purchased these from the Whetung Cultural Centre in Curve Lake, Ontario. Proceeds will go to the Save the Evidence campaign to preserve the Mohawk Institute in Brantford.

How to Enter

Send your name, full mailing address, and phone number to General-IMJ@united-church.ca by 12:00 PM ET Friday, August 26.

If you do not provide all of your contact information, your name will not be entered. Please send only one entry—duplicates will not be entered.

Your name will be entered in a Wheel of Names which we’ll spin to choose our 40 lucky giveaway recipients!

The draw will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at 12:00 PM ET in a live event on our Facebook page.

Your flag will be sent before the Labour Day weekend, in time for you to use it as public witness on September 30!
