Emerging Spirit is an exciting initiative of The United Church of Canada focused on establishing and nurturing a relationship between the United Church and Canadians aged 30-45.

Emerging Spirit On-line

Emerging Spirit’s website* offers all the information you need about the Emerging Spirit, the ad campaign, WonderCafe, and the Living the Welcome congregational training events.

The Emerging Spirit website also offers a place to share welcoming ministry models and resources that actually work in congregations. Here are some of the features on the site:

• Emerging Spirit Blog: Daily insights and reflections on welcoming and ministry from contributors from across the country. You can start your own blog as well!
• Welcoming Ministry Toolbox: Print, audio, and video resources for welcoming and leadership in changing times.
• Best Practices: Welcoming ministry ideas gathered from United Church congregations throughout Canada. Post your own experiences as well!
• Wiki Welcoming Guide: A developing on-line resource on welcoming that users can contribute to and edit themselves.

Living the Welcome Congregational Training

Emerging Spirit holds up to 24 Living the Welcome congregational training events around the country each year to help prepare congregations develop welcoming ministries.

You can register here* for a Living the Welcome event, learn more about the schedule and workshops* offered, and meet the leaders and presenters* for the events.

Living the Welcome events are designed for congregational teams* made up of a paid, accountable staff person plus other key lay leaders. The number of team members is to be based on average worship attendance, with approximately 3-5 team members per 100 worshippers.

Each Living the Welcome event offers:

• Research about Canadians who would be interested in The United Church of Canada.
• Tips, tools, and programs for launching congregational welcoming ministries in your local context.
• Ways your congregation can connect with United Church's national media campaign, WonderCafe.ca.
• Explorations of the connections between leadership and welcoming ministries.
• And much more!
